Chris Mellor from UK left The Register to join StorageNewsletter to reinforce the team of redactors already including Philippe Nicolas and myself.
These three people are known to be the best popular journalists on the worldwide storage industry.
Mellor was storage editor of The Register since September 2008. Before that, he was editor and founder of Block and Files for 6 months and writing a storage column for Microscope, blog for TechTarget, following 3 years at IDG’s Techworld as editor for storage and green sections.
His experience includes time as a programmer, software support, marketing and competitive analysis at UK software houses, Digital Equipment Corporation, Unisys and the Santa Cruz Operation, after which he became a tech journalist.
Its other interests include mountaineering and rock climbing, travel, and sportscars.
My comment: “I’m very happy to welcome Chris to write article on StorageNewsLetter. I met him many times since several years in press conferences, press trips, and storage shows all over the world. I appreciate its excellent writing and his deep knowledge of the storage industry. Furthermore, he has a lot of connections with storage executives.”
“I know Jean-Jacques very well and became good friends,” said Mellor. “I remember an interview together with him when we were at Huawei in China. We complement quite well about the questions we asked to the head of Huawei storage. I’m excited to work with him at StorageNewsletter, an excellent daily Web publication on storage.”

For newspapers in some countries, it's a tradition to invent crazy news on April 1. This article, dated April 1, has been totally invented by Jean-Jacques Maleval, editor of StorageNewsletter.
It's an April fool's joke. It will not happen but who knows?
