Pivot3 Cloud Edition on AWS to Simplify Use of Public Clouds

Cloud Engine that extends policy-based management and automation to cloud, to simplify, optimize and automate use of multi-cloud environments

Pivot3, Inc. announced Cloud Edition on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which enables customers to simplify, optimize and automate their use of multi-cloud environments to better address business challenges.

This extension of the company’s HCI software platform to the public cloud is part of the company’s strategy to unify on-premises and public cloud infrastructures with its innovations in policy-based management and automated resource orchestration technologies. By extending these capabilities, the firm is addressing the challenges IT faces in reducing costs while improving agility from an hybrid and multi-cloud environment.

Advancements in public cloud services brought the promise of reduced complexity and improved economics. However, to this point, IT has been held back by management and cost complexities along with lack of seamless, end-to-end control,” said John Spiers, EVP, strategy, Pivot3. “Pivot3 Cloud Edition features our Intelligent Cloud Engine that brings unprecedented simplicity, intelligence and automation to multi-cloud environments. This intelligence engine features our market-leading policy-based management and resource orchestration capabilities that were designed to span on-premises infrastructure and public clouds as tiers of resources.

The Intelligent Cloud Engine is based on the company’s fourth-generation policy-based management capabilities, which automate data placement and data protection tasks based on SLAs and business priorities. By extending these capabilities to the many clouds that customers use today to support their needs, the firm integrates on-premises infrastructure and public cloud environments. This simplifies and automates the dynamic use of public cloud resources, and optimizes costs and IT resource utilization.

Unlike other cloud replication software available on the market, Cloud Edition on AWS enables customers to use AWS for backup and DR by using the intelligence in the company’s policy-based management for data protection. This intelligent orchestration feature manages replication jobs based on service level priorities and simple data protection policies. It runs in AWS as an Amazon Machine Image and is optimized to orchestrate replication of data from on-premises HCI to AWS. By quickly distributing data to multiple geographies, customers can eliminate the need to stand up a second datacenter or co-location facility.

Pivot3’s Cloud Edition on AWS brings a simple and sophisticated approach that addresses many of the challenges faced in leveraging public clouds,” said Eric Sheppard, VP, server and storage infrastructure, IDC Research. “Companies must adapt to the evolving needs of businesses by developing a unified strategy for their public clouds and on-premises infrastructure. Pivot3’s Intelligent Cloud Engine helps achieve such goals by tying these separate environments together with tools that drive operational simplicity through automation.

We’re delivering capabilities that allow organizations to embrace the many clouds necessary to run their business, and we’re automating it to make it scale,” said Spiers. “This automation and intelligence makes managing hybrid clouds easier and more cost effective, and guarantees the QoS of applications as customers move to a world of many clouds.
