Pure Storage Extends VMware Integration With Solutions to Accelerate Private Clouds

Pure Storage, Inc. announced its extended collaboration with VMware, Inc. to enable mutual customers with the performance, simplicity and resiliency needed for their cloud environments.

The support for vSphere Metro Storage Cluster, vSphere Virtual Volumes and the VMware Validated Design provides more options for mutual customers to help them achieve always-on operations, increased per-VM control, and ease of deployment of their private cloud.

Attain always-on operations with stretch cluster
The company’s all-inclusive software, Purity 5.0, includes support for ActiveCluster, an active/active synchronous replication and multi-site stretch cluster solution, that delivers zero RPO and RTO across racks, data centers or metro regions at no extra cost.

Adding ActiveCluster to a FlashArray configuration is achieved with a non-disruptive software update. Support with vSphere Metro Storage Cluster ensures an end-to-end highly available virtualized environment to support tier 1, mission-critical applications.

To date, conventional synchronous replication and stretch cluster solutions have been complex and costly, with setups ranging from days to weeks and involving hundreds of pages of manuals. Additionally, the license fees, external gateways, and the frequent need for outside professional services added to the pain and expense. With ActiveCluster, these obstacles have been eliminated with only four steps to complete set up, one new command and no customer owned 3rd site mediator required to deliver BC.

Achieve control per-VM
The company also offers support for vSphere Virtual Volumes 2.0. Customers virtualized on VMware can get per-VM granular mapping to the FlashArray, which helps assure per-VM SLAs, simplifies per-VM management and gains per-VM portability. In addition to enabling compliance, vSphere Virtual Volumes on FlashArray utilizes storage policy-based management to automate provisioning of VMs and align application requirements to available FlashArray data services including snapshots and replication. This streamlines operations and empowers the VMware administrators to gain more control with less dependency on the storage team.

Deploy private cloud with confidence
The company achieved certification of its VMware Validated Design for Software-Defined Data Center in the VMware Certified Partner Architecture program. The firm and VMware jointly tested and validated an architecture enabling mutual customers to build a scalable SDDC that automates IT and empowers developers with self-service infrastructure, so IT can accelerate the delivery of essential applications on a private cloud. The VMware Validated Design certified for the company consists of vSphere, NSX, vRealize and Pure FlashArray.

These solutions are all supported by a proven all-flash platform from the company that delivers data reduction, encryption for all data, consistent sub-ms latency, 99.9999% availability, non-disruptive upgrades, predictive analytics and an Evergreen Storage ownership model.
