Areca ARC-8042-12 RAID 12-Bay 12Gb SAS to SAS

With dual core 1.2GHz ROC and on-board 2GB DDR3-1886 SDRAM memory to deliver hardware RAID

Areca Technology Corporation announced its 12-bay 12Gb SAS to SAS compact ARC-8042-12 RAID box.

ARC-8042-12 RAID front and rear

ARC-8042-12 SAS to SAS desktop RAID box provides 12Gb SAS host interface link to the host board on the server system. This RAID controller utilizes the same RAID kernel that has been field-proven in existing internal/external SATA/SAS RAID controller products, allowing customers to bring stable and reliable SAS RAID external box. ARC-8042-12 provides desktop storage chassis capable of accommodating up to twelve 12Gb SAS drives or 6G SATA/SAS drives.

On the hardware side, ARC-8042-12 features a dual core 1.2GHz ROC and on-board 2GB DDR3-1886 SDRAM memory to deliver true hardware RAID. It can be configured to RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 1E, 3, 5, 6, 00, 100, 30, 50, 60, single disk or JBOD. The storage unit is a cost-effective SAS disk drive RAID box with integrated performance and data-protection capabilities, which meet the performance and feature of a mid-range storage product at an entry-level price.

The cooling continuously adapts to environmental conditions by automatically controlling the speed of the cooling fans. This silent design, optimizing balance between noise reduction and necessary cooling, help the resellers to offer a cost effective storage solution to customers.

Configuration and monitoring can be managed either through the LCD control panel, RS232 port or LAN port. The firmware contains an embedded terminal emulation via the RS-232 port. The firmware-embedded several available RAID managers include internet browser, CLI, Telnet, API, SMTP and SNMP via a LAN port. The ArcSAP Quick Manager can scan multiple RAID units in the local and remote side and provide an effective management interface for configuration, and monitoring the company’s RAID controllers.
