Storage Conference Prostor in Moscow, Russia, Gathered 200 Attendees

Storage vendor RAIDIX Corp. and the Skolkovo Foundation co-hosted the annual storage technology forum PROSTOR at the Skolkovo Technopark (Moscow, Russia) on October 26, 2017.

The conference attracted global IT experts from Broadcom, Elastifile, HGST (a Western Digital brand), Micron, Mellanox, SanDisk (a Western Digital brand), Panasonic, and more vendors – as speakers and attendees.
 
The event program encompassed five tracks related to hot storage topics: Solid state storage devices. Flash and storage-class memory. NVMe, How to store petabytes?, Network solutions. FC vs. Ethernet, NVMf, Storage management in data centers, Storage architecture comparison. The forum’s guests had a chance to check out the live demo zone featuring next-generation software and hardware technology.
 
PROSTOR gathered over 200 attendees from major local and international enterprises, system integrators, IT solution providers, telco operators, governmental agencies, and other storage buyers.
 
As a networking platform for global industry experts, PROSTOR sets forward the trends for storage devices and software technology development in the CIS and beyond. Like in the previous years, the forum committee pursued the goal of reinventing the traditional conference format, muting marketing hype and focusing on the technology that matters today and will matter tomorrow.

The PROSTOR 2017 topics included memory-centric storage architecture, flash as a memory extension, NVDIMM, long-term storage of big data, new storage interfaces, NVMe Over Fabrics, hybrid cloud solutions for object storage, data center acceleration, distributed storage systems.
 
A snapshot of the storage market, PROSTOR 2017 revealed the juxtaposition of theory and practice, the entire spectrum of classic ‘doctrines’ and cutting-edge approaches, as well as lively networking.
 
At PROSTOR, the Skolkovo IT cluster held a session for big data in telemedicine and IoT.

During the conference, Panasonic and RAIDIX showcased their joined long-term (up to 100 years) archival solution based on freezeray optical discs and the RAIDIX management software. The strategic cooperation between the two companies was initiated under the auspices of Skolkovo and formally announced in the course of the Japan-Russian Summit in December 2016.
