New HPE SimpliVity 380 Hyperconverged Infrastructure

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LP (HPE) announced new infrastructure offerings to enable resource-constrained SMBs to increase application performance and reduce risk without added cost.

As the role of IT continues to change from backend support to driving business value and outcomes, customers of all size are trying to move faster and gain agility. However, midsize businesses are often behind the curve due to budget constraints, manpower issues, and other pressures.

“SMBs continue to have infrastructure investment as one of their top IT spending priorities,” said Ray Boggs, VP SMB research, IDC. “Roughly one-third of SMBs with 50 or more employees cite server upgrades and network infrastructure as a top IT spending priority in the next 12 months. For many, the expanding use of cloud and hosted resources will depend on updating their on premise capabilities, with flash storage and hyperconverged servers of increasing interest.“
 
To help these customers, HPE is introducing a mix of systems, networking solutions, storage and financing programs, across the SMB spectrum ranging from 1-1,000 employees.

For midsize customers looking to provide predictable acceleration of business applications, HPE announced a flash portfolio update including a new, more MSA storage array; Nimble Storage flash arrays; and a more affordable all-flash HPE SimpliVity 380 Gen 10 hyperconverged system. Complementing these new all-flash systems is the HPE StoreFabric M-Series switch, which provides industry-leading price and performance for Ethernet-based storage network connectivity.

Additionally, for midsize businesses looking to take advantage of the secure servers portfolio, the HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10, ProLiant ML350 Gen10 and ProLiant DL580 Gen10 Servers are optimized for growing business needs while providing a balance of performance, price and versatility.

HPE has also introduced a new WiFi solution specifically designed for businesses with fewer than 100 employees. The OfficeConnect OC20 provides secure, reliable and cost-effective business-grade Wi-Fi for businesses without dedicated IT resources.

Flash optimized HCI, storage and networking to accelerate hybrid IT

HPE SimpliVity 380

SMBs have access to affordable all-flash storage with the new SimpliVity 380 hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). The company is announcing new entry-level solutions that provide a 20% lower cost than leading competitors. These solutions will offer the benefits of all-flash storage-twice the performance of hybrid solutions with half the latency. It targets midsize businesses who want the agility and economics of the cloud with the performance and protection of an on-premises solution. Built-in capabilities – including data protection, DR, deduplication, and compression – address key requirements and provide additional opportunities for consolidation and savings.

HPE Nimble Storage Flash Arrays

The Nimble Storage Predictive Flash platform includes predictive analytics engine for customers seeking a true next-generation all-flash solution. InfoSight predictive analytics is capable of addressing over 86% of storage issues before they occur and delivers six-nines measured availability. This technology offers performance and high availability with options to scale to petabytes as a customer’s business grows. HPE announced the acquisition of Nimble Storage earlier this year and as of November 1, 2017, the Nimble Storage portfolio of adaptive and all-flash offerings will be available from HPE channel partners worldwide.

MSA1050 Hybrid Storage Array

SMB customers must often choose between price and performance, but now these businesses are able to enjoy enterprise-grade storage at an affordable cost. SMBs will no longer be forced to put business priorities on the backburner due to high costs of enterprise storage. The MSA1050 hybrid storage array starts under $5.500, representing lowest entry price point in the HPE shared storage portfolio. The MSA 2050/2052 models deliver two times more performance than its previous generation for the same price[1]. HPE is enabling direct SAS connectivity for ProLiant Gen10 servers to MSA1050/2050 storage, providing access to flash storage without any network infrastructure required.

StoreFabric M-series Ethernet switches
For many SMB customers, the thought of deploying dedicated FC network infrastructure for their flash systems is cost prohibitive and adds complexity. The StoreFabric M-series switches enable SMBs to achieve an affordable, high-performance network infrastructure built for flash.
