South Korean HGST Distributor Wooriro Chooses Raidix

As storage software

Raidix Korea Ltd submitted a Raidix-powered storage system for testing to Wooriro Co. Ltd., a distributor of HGST, Inc., a Western Digital brand, in South Korea.

The tests of the Raidix management software along with HGST’s storage platforms unveiled maximum available performance, pushing the limits of 8/16Gb FC. Impressed with the outcomes, Wooriro selected Raidix as a component for one of its storage lineups.

Raidix has had a strong foothold in Korea since 2013. In the past few years, Raidix Korea executed a series of implementations in the local governmental and commercial organizations. The Raidix technology gained recognition on the Korean market due to functional and licensing flexibility, savings up to 70% as opposed to industrial vendor-locked solutions, high density, and scalability on the fly.

The Raidix solutions ensure performance and fault-tolerance in video surveillance for Korean mega-cities, as well as business process support for large-scale enterprises and industrial plants across the country. For expanding existing customer infrastructures, Raidix utilizes storage platforms from HGST. Raidix’s universal compatibility with JBODs allows the customer to increase storage capacity avoiding downtime or performance degradation.

In response to the growing demand for all-flash devices in the region, Raidix Korea and the local partners have laid the technical foundation for a turnkey solution building on commodity hardware, the Raidix software and flash-based enclosures.

In the run-up to a solution, Wooriro tested Raidix-powered storage system enhanced with HGST’s 2U24 Flash Storage Platform, with respect to compatibility and performance parameters.

2U24 Flash Storage Platform features include:

  • All-flash platform housing up to 24 Ultrastar 2.5″ SAS SSD modules, or 24 CloudSpeed Gen II SATA SSD modules
  • Available SSD capacities: 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, and 960GB
  • 12 SSDs in the minimum configuration
  • Up to 4.7 million IO/s, 23GB/s throughput; latencies below 1ms
  • Up to six 12Gb SAS3 connections to host
  • 2 rack units.

According to the tests, the system revealed peak performance on read and write, and proved eligible for supporting the heavy workloads in enterprise, video analytics, HPC and other vertical applications.
