Netlist Assigned Patent For High-Speed RDIMM and LRDIMM Memory Modules

Capable of handshaking with memory controller of host system

Netlist, Inc. announced the recent issuance of U.S. Patent No. 9,535,623 (the ‘623 patent) relating to memory modules capable of handshaking with a memory controller of a host system.

The ‘623 patent is related to U.S. Patent No. 8,489,837, which is one of six patents the company asserted last year against SK hynix RDIMM and LRDIMM enterprise memory products in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The ‘623 patent covers various handshaking technologies that are particularly effective when setting the proper timing for DDR4 RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules, an important and difficult challenge given the speed of the memory channel. The technologies covered by the ‘837 and ‘623 patents, as well as many other fundamental innovations were created by the company’s engineers in the course of developing company’s innovative memory module architectures. The industry adopted many of the firm’s patented solutions years later as it struggled to address similar technical challenges in DDR4 RDIMM and LRDIMM products.

We are pleased that the U.S. Patent Office continues to validate the ground-breaking nature of HyperCloud and the many innovations developed by our engineers in the course of that product development,” said Noel Whitley, VP, IP and licensing, Netlist. “We remain focused on creating innovative new products like HybriDIMM which leverage the IP we have developed during the past decade.
