PoINT Storage Manager Certified for NetApp SnapLock
With ONTAP 9.0
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 29, 2016 at 1:51 pmNetApp, Inc. has certified the PoINT Storage Manager for the compliance software NetApp SnapLock with ONTAP 9.0.
SnapLock enables secure, compliant and long-term storage with WORM functionality on systems such as NetApp Nearline Storage.
Working with the PoINT Storage Manager, users can archive rising amounts of inactive data, and thus saving primary storage without having to change any existing applications or established access processes.
SnapLock is a WORM solution for compliant storage. It allows users to create write and delete-protected volumes on HDD or flash-based systems. This ensures that data cannot be modified (or even deleted) before a pre-specified date. The combination of PoINT Storage Manager and SnapLock makes it easy to implement compliance requirements for data that needs to be archived away from primary storage. The PoINT Connector enables optimal integration for the NetApp solution and its functions into the infrastructure, automating it and making it fully rules-based. The use of stubs and the PoINT Storage Manager’s ‘path through on read’ function means that all archived data remains transparent and readable, with no need to restore files to the primary storage. Additional functions including versioning, replication, data protection and authentication control round out the range of services provided.
