Orange Takes Second Petabyte of MatrixStore Object Storage

To implement BC strategies for OPTV division

Object Matrix Ltd announces that Paris-based Orange SA ordered a second petabyte of MatrixStore object storage for the OPTV  division.

Orange MatrixStore

OPTV is responsible for handling for acquisition and archiving of AV content for broadcast (SCO) and downloads (Orange VOD) within the group’s content division. Historically OPTV operations were based on LTO technology that proved to be costly to operate over the long term and, more importantly, limited access to content. In 2015 the company decided to migrate the existing petabyte away from LTO to a more secure and scalable object storage architecture using commodity disk.

MatrixStore object storage technology was chosen at the time to perform the migration and the integration was entrusted to Paris-based CTM Solutions.

OPTV will implement its BC strategy in order to strengthen the security of its platform and the availability of the content. They have chosen to implement this by adding second cluster MatrixStore, hosted in a remote data centre, and enabling automatic asynchronous replication of its assets. This, bi-directional, replication of assets is functionality offered as standard by Object Matrix.

Object Matrix was present at the SATIS Expo on the IVORY Business Development stand.
