CODELATHE_FILECLOUD-OVERVIEW
Among new features of FileCloud 13 are
:

  • Workflow automation

  • Granular folder/sub folder permissions

  • Versatile file storage connectors

  • Desktop SSO

  • File browser App

Our philosophy when developing new features is to engage our customers in the early stage so we can design our products based on the day-to-day needs of our clients,” said Madhan Kanagavel, CEO, CodeLathe. “Many companies build products and then search for a market. We take the opposite approach. We find the pain points and build innovative solutions to meet the customer’s needs.

Workflow automation
FileCloud 13 brings workflow capabilities to automate critical document based business processes. Customers can setup simple conditions, which are triggered by operations in FileCloud 13 such as when a file is created, or when a file is updated. A variety of actions (i.e. send email, block a device, and archive a file) can be set to run when the condition is triggered. The workflow follows a simple IFTTT (‘IF CONDITION’ – ‘THEN ACTION’) model.

Samples of workflow are:

  • Archive and move/copy files if they are not accessed for X number of dates

  • Send an alert to administrator if our content heuristic engine identifies a file MIME mismatch or ransomware infected file.

  • Disable an user if he has not accessed FileCloud for X number of days

Granular folder permissions

Establishing stringent access permissions is among the most challenging tasks when managing enterprise information. FileCloud’s granular folder permission model allows oganizations to manage access permissions at any folder and sub-folder level. Administrators can ensure appropriate level of access for every user, by assigning individual folder level permissions. FileCloud’s granular folder permission model mirrors the NTFS file permissions model used by many enterprise admins. More about FileCloud granular folder permissions.

Versatile file storage connectors
FileCloud 13 is a one-stop destination for collecting, aggregating, indexing, protecting, and presenting all unstructured data, regardless of where the data is stored. It manages data on network shares, cloud storage services like Amazon S3 and ECM systems like SharePoint.

Desktop SSO
Large enterprises, research organizations and federal institutions who deal with sensitive data desire single sign on for desktop applications as well. FileCloud 13 brings SAML based Desktop SSO using a device authentication code. About FileCloud Desktop SSO support.

File browser App

FileCloud 13 brings a native file browser as part of its sync client enabling users to browse the files stored in FileCloud. The File Browser app doesn’t store files offline or take any up storage space on the local computer. Rather, this feature addresses a crucial pain point of many customers who want to sync a subset of files locally but still want the ability to quickly access all the files on the server when needed. File Browser app is available for all major client OS’s: Windows, Mac and Linux.

Other features of FileCloud 13 include:

  • Password protected shares – protect public shares with passwords

  • Show thumbnail previews for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF documents

  • Chrome browser extensions such as save to FileCloud and FileCloud for Gmail.

Overall, FileCloud 13 also brings improvements to sync and drive clients, numerous UI improvements, bug fixes and security updates.
