Everspin ST-MRAM Deployed in GlobalFoundries 22FDX Platform
As non-volatile embedded memory
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 22, 2016 at 3:04 pmEverspin Technologies, Inc. announced that its ST-MRAM technology will be available as an embedded memory through its relationship with GlobalFoundries, Inc.
With the GlobalFoundries announcement of 22FDX eMRAM based on ST-MRAM technology, customers will have access to memory that offers the benefit of working memory (SRAM) combined with code storage (flash), enabling system designers to take advantage of the latest NVM memory technology.
GlobalFoundries is producing the first of Everspin’s pMTJ ST-MRAM, a 256Mb in a 40nm CMOS process on its 300mm wafer line.
Together the companies are preparing for volume production of stand-alone ST-MRAM storage class memory.
“Our ongoing relationship with GlobalFoundries, a world-class foundry, has enabled this next step in bringing what we believe to be the most advanced commercially available ST-MRAM pMTJ products to the market. Now customers can plan their next generation SOC and MCU based products with eMRAM from GlobalFoundries.” said Phillip LoPresti, CEO, Everspin. “Everspin has been producing high volume eMRAM in 130nm with first generation MRAM technology for over five years in our Chandler, AZ fab and recognizes the value to customers of having a more advanced capability in advanced CMOS nodes on 300mm. We are pleased to collaborate with GLOBAFOUNDRIES on industry leading MRAM technology.“
