Netgear ReadyNAS 3312/4312S/4312X: 2U 12-Bay Rackmount NAS
Diskless: $3,000 for ReadyNAS 3312, $4,200 for ReadyNAS 4312S, and $4,400 for ReadyNAS 4312X
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 7, 2016 at 3:08 pmNetgear, Inc. has refreshed its ReadyNAS NAS family with three rackmount NAS systems.
The three models, ReadyNAS 3312, ReadyNAS 4312S and ReadyNAS 4312X, are 2U rackmount network storage systems with 12-bay capacity for up to 120TB and 600TB of total storage in expansion mode.
Powered by a 5th generation Xeon enterprise server processor and dual 10GbE ports, the ReadyNAS 4312S and 4312X provide a storage solution that keeps pace with the relentless growth in production and consumption of data, and also deliver consistent performance under increasing workloads. Scalable for businesses of any size, the new line-up delivers processing power and memory expansion for scaling VMs, backups and file serving.
ReadyNAS 4312X and 4312S integrate into any existing 10Gb copper or fiber network respectively and interoperate seamlessly with 10Gbt switching solutions from the company. The built-in dual 10GbE ports can be configured to operate as a trunk in link aggregation mode with firm’s 10Gb switches – offering high performance and redundancy. With ReadyNAS 4312X, 4312S and ProSAFE 10Gb switches, the company is pioneering a cost effective and easy upgrade path for SMBs to 10Gb networking.
“Today even small businesses are dealing with vast quantities of business-critical data that require the degree of protection and remote collaboration capabilities that just a few years ago would have been available only to the enterprise,” said Richard Jonker, VP, product line management, SMB products, Netgear. “The high-end processors of ReadyNAS 3312, 4312S and 4312X combined with their expandable storage capacity and RAM memory provide sufficient processing power and storage space for years to come, surpassing the capabilities of any other NAS solution serving the SMB.“
Performance hardware
Both ReadyNAS 4312S and 4312X are designed for performance business environments and can be connected to dedicated SFP+ or 10GBASE-T switches, offering growing businesses an easy, flexible migration path to high-speed NAS connectivity. The RR4312X offers backwards compatibility with 1GbE switching, providing a business case to migrate to higher speed 10GBASE-T storage networking.

ReadyNAS OS offers data protection and cloud options
The ReadyNAS OS 6 enabling a reliable and cost-effective backup platform, starting with its BTRFS File System with five levels of data protection:
-
RAID protection against disk failure
-
Real time anti-virus
-
Incremental backup copies with unlimited snapshots
-
Bitrot protection against media degradation; and
-
Easy-to-setup cloud-managed replication
ReadyNAS OS allows automatic bi-direction synchronization between any ReadyNAS model and the storage offered by public cloud services such as Amazon Cloud Drive and Dropbox.
Upon upgrade to the latest version of ReadyNAS OS 6, the ReadyDR will be automatically installed for block-level backup and restore to a second ReadyNAS [1]. This feature ensures LAN replication of large backup files and databases.
In addition to supporting connections to popular cloud services, the new models also offer ReadyCLOUD, which provides an instant, secure VPN-based private cloud for local and remote data access for file sharing, without additional costs. Its sync and remote management capabilities enable employees to enjoy the same unified interface regardless of location.
