Syncplicity With Comprehensive Security Model to Accelerate Digital Transformation
Giving IT flexibility, visibility and control, enabling secure file sync and share for business users.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 11, 2016 at 3:10 pmAt RSA Conference in San Francisco, CA, Syncplicity LLC announced a security model to support global enterprises in transforming their IT strategies to create modern digital workplaces.
The model centers around features that give IT flexibility, visibility and control, enable secure file sync and share for business users, and make it easy for customers to meet data sovereignty and governance standards.
“In today’s environment with regular data breaches and constantly changing security regulations, global enterprises need partners they can trust to provide them with the tools they need to share and collaborate on data and work toward full digital transformation,” said Jon Huberman, CEO, Syncplicity. “No other vendor provides the depth and breadth of security features and expertise to deliver risk reduction and information governance both globally and locally. This new approach to security sets us up to lead the industry toward secure collaboration and define the workplace of the future.“
Company’s security model provides a flexible solution for risk reduction and information governance where customers can customize their settings to meet their unique needs, while maintaining security and usability.
Maximum visibility and control
Firm’s policy-driven hybrid cloud offers flexibility to keep confidential data on-premises or in private clouds, while allowing less sensitive files to reside in a public cloud, without compromising on a seamless user experience. The company gives enterprises the control o define storage location based on users’ business roles, national residence and/or sensitivity of data.
Secure file sync and share at scale
The firm offers more than 30 granular security controls through group policies, enabling secure deployments at scale for large enterprises with complex environments. Customers can import data from Active Directory groups to implement role-based access control, set higher security for sensitive business groups such as executives or engineering than more open departments like marketing that collaborate internally and externally.
Data only accessible to customers – Zero content knowledge
StorageVault Authentication (SVA) safeguards customers’ data so it cannot be accessed by anyone without the customer’s explicit authorization. SVA is a dual-key access control system, and firm’s system never sees, or has access to, the customer’s access key.
Complete protection for private health information
Meeting the requirements of HIPAA security and privacy rules is clearly a concern for hospital systems and healthcare providers, but enterprises outside of the medical industry like education institutions and government agencies often handle protected health information (PHI). Company’s adherence to HIPAA and HITECH controls helps customers automatically meet their governance needs for PHI. The controls extend beyond the service itself and also include firm’s administrative processes and physical security procedures.
Data sovereignty options to address global privacy concerns
Firm’s policy-driven hybrid cloud lets administrators choose not only which data is stored on-premises or in a public or private cloud, but also under which national sovereignty that data will be processed. Because of this, multi-nationals and state agencies have the flexibility to retain data in the region of their choice.
The company is launching regionally-based cloud services to ensure all data is managed only in the customer’s region of choice, and also includes European Standard Clauses (model clauses) in its cloud service agreement, providing the necessary framework for customers to meet their obligations under general data protection regulation.
“Syncplicity’s comprehensive approach to security and data protection make it a well-suited solution for large enterprises around the globe,” said Terri McClure, senior analyst, ESG. “Especially with the ever-changing regulatory landscape, the amount of flexibility and control regarding where data resides and who can access it, combined with the expertise Syncplicity provides as a mature vendor in this space, is impressive, and it’s one of the reasons we’re continuing to see the company win large deployments and market share.“
