IBM InfoSphere Data Replication Targets Hadoop Systems
Using WebHDFS instead of local HDFS no more supported
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 8, 2016 at 3:23 pmIBM Corp. will no longer support the Local HDFS (5725-E30) feature for IBM InfoSphere Data Replication.
InfoSphere Data Replication will now exclusively target Hadoop systems using the WebHDFS remote REST API method.
The WebHDFS target provides a superset of the previous Local HDFS option, while helping making it easier to target Hadoop instances in the cloud.
WebHDFS allows for installations with greater resilience, as InfoSphere Data Replication runs remotely from the Hadoop nodes, which allows Hadoop systems to fail nodes manually or automatically without affecting replication.
Clients will need to re-create any subscriptions that used the Local HDFS option in previously released products.
IBM Change Data Capture V6.1 and V6.2 iSeries support change
IBM is withdrawing IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture V6.1 and 6.2 (5725-E30) as supporting programs to provide access to the IBM iSeries engine.
The InfoSphere Data Replication product previously included the Change Data Capture V6.1 and V6.2 software as supporting programs to provide access to the iSeries engine. Beginning with InfoSphere Data Replication V11.3.3, the iSeries engine is now a part of the InfoSphere Data Replication product. Clients no longer need to use the Change Data Capture version of the software because the same function is available to clients using the InfoSphere Data Replication V11.3.3 iSeries engine.
