Customers using the widely deployed Case Manager ECM platform, as well as other legacy IBM storage systems, can bi-directionally sync files, folders, permissions, metadata and user accounts with any other SkySync-supported on-premises or cloud-based storage system – automatically.
Because it securely automates these critical file logistics operations under the direct control of authorized system administrators, the company eliminates the need for end users to manually manipulate or move content to or from IBM Case Manager. This not only saves organizations significant time, money and resources that would otherwise be allocated for complex integration efforts, it provides unparalleled storage agility and collaboration opportunities. At the same time, it allows IBM customers to fully leverage the benefits of cloud storage while preserving their significant investments within existing storage infrastructure.
“We’re witnessing a ‘bring your own storage’ revolution, spawned by both the multitude of cloud storage services available, such as Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, Office 365, etc. and by a workforce that is increasingly distributed and virtualized,” said Doak Williford, VP, platform solutions, SkySync. “To accommodate this new infrastructure, hybrid content architectures are becoming the new norm. SkySync occupies a new middleware layer in these architectures by serving as an intelligent membrane between on-premises and cloud storage systems. Given the vast number of IBM Case Manager installations globally, today’s release of a new SkySync Connector for one of the industry’s most widely deployed ECM systems is a watershed moment. It offers IBM’s Case Manager customers and business partners a chance to rapidly deliver a new class of highly collaborative and distributed ECM business solutions.”
The release of this connector for the Case Manager platform adds to company’s existing set of IBM connectors for Lotus Quickr and Domino. An additional connector for IBM’s Image Services will be available this summer.
“The significance of SkySync’s new connector for IBM’s Case Manager Platform boils down to three immutable facts: organizations have a tremendous amount of time, money and workflow investment in on premises file infrastructures; within those infrastructures, not all files are structured the same; and organizations want to take advantage of the cloud and mobility to increase productivity,” said Terri McClure, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “They have unique properties, metadata, versions and permissions, and they have different programmatic interfaces. Given the fact most IBM customers have to deal with tens to hundreds of millions of files when migrating, syncing and/or backing up files to or from an ever-growing array of on-premises and cloud storage systems, managing file logistics has been an integration nightmare. SkySync has the potential to change that and unlock file data for leverage and access across a diverse set of platforms.“
