Pivot3 Custom Plug-in Streamlines Control of vSTAC OS
Through VMware vCenter Server
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 24, 2015 at 2:53 pmPivot3, Inc. announced the vSTAC OS Management Client Integration Plug-In, designed to connect with Vmware, Inc.‘ vCenter Server.
This custom plug-in will provide system administrators a single point of control of company’s global hyper-converged infrastructure technology in a familiar VMware interface.
Company’s global hyper-converged infrastructure (GHCI) solution helps enterprises lower TCO by providing combined virtual shared storage and copute power on the same platform.
Prior to the development of this plug-in, administrators needed to access separately the vSTAC manager and the VMware vCenter Server client. The plug-in provides centralized visibility and control of the firm and VMware infrastructure. Instead of switching between two different interfaces to control all functions, users can directly manage HyperSAN right from the VMware interface – an application with which a majority of virtualization managers are already familiar.
“Hyper-converged infrastructure by nature provides sophistication and power in a simplified and convenient package,” said Ron Nash, CEO, Pivot3. “We’ve designed this interface to achieve maximum simplicity when performing critical operations such as adding appliances or monitoring hardware failures.“
The company recently announced that it is bringing its vSTAC OS 7 software to vSphere 6, an virtualization platform for the hybrid cloud and the foundation for the software-defined data center. In continuation of this development, the vSTAC OS Management Client Integration Plug-In will enable users to manage their entire vSphere and firm’s hyper-converged platforms from a central vCenter console.
With the vSTAC OS Management Client Integration Plug-In,
users will be able to directly monitor features unique to GHCI, including:
-
Preventative failure: Administrators can identify and monitor drives beginning to fail. vSTAC OS 7’s high fault tolerance allows systems to restart automatically in case of appliance failures.
-
Virtual global sparing: Automatic failover to virtual spare prevents drive failures from affecting BC.
-
Status of rebuilds: Users can monitor the status of the rebuild process, which begins immediately upon drive failure.
-
Storage efficiency: Graphical representations illustrate storage usage and availability, allowing administrators to adjust storage strategy and execution at any point in time.
“Customers of hyper-converged infrastructure relish and expect simplicity and ease of use,” said Jeff Kato, senior analyst, storage, Taneja Group. “Pivot3 has made HCI storage management a breeze by releasing vSTAC OS Management Client Integration, an integrated vCenter plug-in. Now vSphere administrators will not have to leave the management tool they know best to administer a Pivot3 scale-out infrastructure.“
“Pivot3 with VMware software-defined solutions enables businesses to realize great value and agility in their IT infrastructure,” said Howard Hall, senior director, global technology partner organization, VMware. “Pivot3 and VMware continue to work together to offer customers next-generation storage architecture powered by intelligent software.“
