Features of new Ultrium 7 model include:
- Specification data transfer rate of up to 300Mb/s native
- Support for LTO Generation 7 media specification tape cartridge compressed capacity of up to 15TB with 2.5 to 1 compression
- The ability to read and write on Ultrium 7 and Ultrium 6 data cartridges, and read Ultrium 5 data cartridges
- 6Gb SAS attachment for Model H7S
- Encryption support in the tape drive to work with application-managed encryption
- Nineteen-inch rack mount shelf option to accommodate two 6160 tape drives side by side in the rack using 2U of rack space
- Dual SAS ports per drive to improve availability
- Half-high drive form factor
Lenovo 6171 (IBM TS2900) Tape Autoloader
The Lenovo 6171 Tape Autoloader is designed as an affordable solution to increase capacity and improve data protection, reliability, availability, and affordability. It is a low-entry tape storage solution incorporating half-high LTO Ultrium tape technology.
Lenovo 6171 Tape Autoloader Model S7H offers the following:
- IBM Ultrium 7 Tape Drive increased data transfer rate of up to 300Mb/s native
- Support for LTO Generation 7 media specification tape cartridge compressed capacity of up to 15TB with 2.5 to 1 compression per cartridge
- 6Gb SAS interface attachment
- Support for encryption capabilities with IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager
- Entry-level and compact tape library that is designed for high capacity, high performance, and high reliability
- One removable magazine providing nine cartridge slots, including a single I/O station
- Bar code reader that is standard and enables operation of the 6171 in sequential or random access mode
- Remote management capabilities to enable remote administration of the 6171 through a web interface
- Optional features such as rackmount kits, deskside covers, and additional cartridge magazines
- Adherence to LTO Generation 7 media specifications
Key prerequisites
Appropriate levels of host software are required to attach the Lenovo 6160 Tape Drive to selected Power Systems, Unix, and PC servers. Similarly, appropriate levels of host software are required to attach the Lenovo 6171 Tape Autoloader with IBM LTO Ultrium 7 to a range of environments, including selected Power Systems, System x, and other servers running Linux and Windows OSs.
