Virtium SSD With PATA (!) Interface
For industrial applications using legacy connectors
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 23, 2015 at 2:02 pmVirtium Technology, Inc. announced a new line of 2.5-inch Parallel ATA (PATA) SSDs for industrial applications.
The new TuffDrive PATA SSDs, featuring capacities from 8GB to 256GB, are built to tolerate temperatures from -40°C to 85°C and withstand shocks and vibrations that could otherwise compromise data integrity.
The drives’ standard form factor, wide capacity range, and durability provide system designers with drop-in SSDs to replace less-efficient HDDs in rugged industrial environments, while addressing a significant installed user base of PATA storage.
“Industrial-systems storage – in telecommunications, embedded computing, military/aerospace, and automotive applications, for example – presents distinct challenges for storage leaders such as Virtium,” said Scott Phillips, VP marketing, Virtium. “We addressed these challenges by focusing our resources on SSDs that exceed the stringent requirements of rugged industrial designs. And that focus led us to develop this new line of PATA SSDs, designed and built for environments where HDD drives and less durable solid-state storage simply aren’t up to the task.“
PATA SSDs feature:
- Parallel ATA, the latest iteration of the industry-standard storage interface
- 2.5-inch form factor, making for smooth drop-in replacement of standard HDDs
- Capacities more suitable for industrial applications, including booting, data logging, and code storage
- Virtium vtGuard technology to protect against data lost due to unexpected power loss
- Proven SSD technology for reliability and compatibility
- Adherence to RoHS and worldwide hazardous-substance compliance standards
