Huawei and Commvault Sign Joint Global Alliance Agreement
To research serviceability of cloud environments in data center backup solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 22, 2015 at 2:43 pmAt Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC 2015), Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd and Commvault Systems, Inc. signed a global alliance agreement, indicating a further step of collaboration between the two parties.
They have agreed to work together to research serviceability of cloud environments in data center backup solutions.
Russell Bailey, Commvault VP of global partnerships, and Ma Li, president, Huawei IT data center solutions, attended the signing ceremony.
Huawei has had dedicated teams working on DC DR solutions for a long period. The investments into this area are rather significant, demonstrating its ‘all-in’ commitment to continuously developing DR solutions that suit the developments in customer IT architecture.
In the field of DC backup solutions, Huawei has been collaborating with Commvault for more than three years. The success in cooperation has combined the advantages of Huawei’s ICT products and Commvault’s backup management software platforms, providing customers with specific backup solutions as required.
In 2015, Huawei released its All-in-One solution, which is usable-upon-unpacking, aiming at SMBs and data center-level centralized backup solution. Both solutions adopt Commvault’s Simpana backup software, satisfying various backup requirements.
As part of the collaboration, Huawei and Commvault have already started to research ‘backup-as-a-service’. Both companies will be looking into how to transform the backup solutions with closed IT architecture into open platforms while building agile and service-driven models in backup and finding ways to ‘wake up’ and make better use of the massive amounts of data stored on systems. In addition, they will also be searching for breakthroughs in other items in the big data and cloud era.
At HCC 2015, the data center backup solution from Huawei and Commvault is showcased for the first time. The Huawei All-in-One backup solution is also unveiled at the event.
Ma Li said: “Holding fast to the Huawei-defined concepts of openness and being integrated over years, we continuously grow with partners. In the field of data center backup, the Huawei/Commvault backup solution is serving over 300 customers worldwide, including operators, educational institutions, financial organizations, government agencies, large enterprises, and medical facilities. The signing of this global alliance agreement between Huawei and CommVault shows a new level of technical cooperation and joint innovation reflected in our success stories.. We strive to deepen joint development and promotion of backup solutions in cloud-based environments. In the future, Huawei will continue to cooperate with partners in developing industry-specific solutions and creating more values for customers.”
