6Gg 4-Port eSATA Controller From Addonics

Addonics Technologies, Inc. announced the 6G 4-port eSATA controller, a host adapter that provides total throughput of up to 20Gb/s via single PCIe 4-lane slot.

This controller supports SATA HDD, SSDs or optical drive. All drives appear as individual drives and can be configured to form a RAID group using the RAID utility of the OS. By attaching four high performance SSDs, a high performance, large capacity storage system can be created by stripping the four drives using the OS RAID utility.

The controller is an solution for attaching numerous external drives to a computer. It supports connecting Port Multipliers in individual drives or RAID configurations. When combined with four company’s 5-port PM, as many as 20 drives can be attached to any system. You can connect up to four eSATA storage devices via a single PCIe 4-lane slot

Key features include 6Gbps throughput per port, throughput up to 20Gb/s when installed into PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 slot, Port Multiplier (PM) compatible (configured as individual drive or RAID), and connection to as many as 20 drives to a system when combining with four company’s 5-port Pms in individual drive configuration.

The plug and play product is compatible with HDD, SSD, optical drives and Blu-Ray drives. It can be installed into the PCIe 4 lanes slot (also fits into PCIe 8/16 Lane or the graphic card slot). It will fit just about any computing system with a standard full height slot. The controller is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux or OSs with built-in AHCI driver.
