IBM TS7700 R3.3 Introduces Support for TS1150 Tape Drive
And for external key management of disk-based encryption
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 2, 2015 at 2:50 pmIBM TS7700 Release 3.3 supports the use of TS1150 tape drives as physical, back-end tape drives for TS7700 tape-attached systems.
One additional 3952 drive type may be attached to the same TS7700 system to support read-only access to stacked tape cartridges on media that is not readable by the TS1150.
The IBM SKLM external key manager may now be used for disk-based encryption in encryption-capable TS7700 systems.
Key prerequisites: TS7700 R3.3 machine code can only be installed on TS7720 Model VEB or TS7740 Model V07. Release 3.3 machine code is not compatible with previous generations of TS7700 server models.
