Bull Utilizes Mellanox EDR 100Gb IB Technology
For bullx B700 Direct Liquid Cooling blade system
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 21, 2015 at 3:02 pmMellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that Bull SAS, the Atos brand dedicated to its technology products and software, utilizes its EDR 100Gb IB for its bullx B700 Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) blade system.
“Organizations require more and more performance as their data sets grow; however, adding more blades and racks traditionally means adding more operational expense, making scaling cumbersome and costly,” said Pascal Barbolosi, VP/head of extreme computing, Atos big data and security. “Our bullx B700 DLC with Mellanox EDR 100Gb IB technology ensures that tremendous performance levels are achieved while reducing energy consumption by up to one third of other offerings, enabling sustainable data center growth as computing requirements increase.“
The bullx B700 DLC blade system is designed for demanding, high-throughput data center workloads, including HPC, cloud and big data applications. Leveraging a direct liquid cooling system, Mellanox’s ConnectX-4 EDR 100Gb IB LOM design and EDR 100Gb IB blade switch, the bullx B700 delivers performance, low latency, improved system efficiency and application offloads.
“Previously, architecting a large-scale, high-performance data center that can handle more data and provide real-time insights was out of reach for many organizations due to dramatically increasing operational expenses,” said Gilad Shainer, VP marketing, Mellanox. “Mellanox’s EDR 100Gb IB solutions complement Bull’s unique direct liquid cooling approach by enabling far more throughput to be packed into a smaller footprint allowing for higher efficiencies.“
