Start-Up Just Discovered ZettaBox Got Less Than $10 Million in Private Financing

In European cloud storage service with offices in London and Prague

ZettaBox Holdings Limited with offices in London, UK and Prague, Czech Republic, was founded in December 2014 by two US executives, James Kinsella, formerly at Microsoft, and Robert McNeal, who have been working on the new service for the past two years.

It has received less than $10 million in private financing from the two co-founders.

The start-up now has 25 employees.

Behind its slogan: “It’s better in Europe“, the idea is to offer a cloud storage service one the continent as the European Union completes privacy reforms where international companies with European customers – even if they do not have offices in the region – will have to comply with the region’s data controls or face fines of up to 5% of their global revenue, or $112 million, if they flaunt the new rules.

The ZettaBox’s service is free for 5GB for single user and costs €13/user/month for a team of 2 to 5 people. The company has developed app for Android.

But ZettaBox, with a huge number of local competitors in Europe,  does not own data centers and stores customers data in leased data centers in Amsterdam, Berlin, Geneva, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris, with more coming in the future.

Interoute, REIL and soFlash are among ZettaBox’s customers.
