SANBlaze Expanding SSD Storage Rear Transition Module
Featuring 6Gb SAS expander and eight removable 1.8-inch SAS or SATA drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 2, 2015 at 3:06 pmSANBlaze Technology, Inc. announced the SB-RTM438 rear transition module (RTM) that features a 6Gb SAS expander and eight removable 1.8″ SAS or SATA SSD drives.
The SB-RTM438 is compatible with the SANBlaze ATCA2000 storage products.
Support for eight industry standard 1.8″ SSDs delivers SSD storage densities up to 12.8TB utilizing 1.6TB SSDs.
Combined with the SANBlaze ATCA2000, an ATCA storage solution, up to 16 SSDs can be supported in a single ATCA slot providing a possible 25.6TB of flash based storage.
Additionally, the SB-ATCA 2000 and SB-RTM438 pairing, with optional Cache enabled SW, allows for hybrid storage configurations, combining SSD storage with SAS or SATA HDD disks for those applications that benefit from a tiered storage approach.
The SB-RTM438 includes an MMC to monitor numerous on board voltage and temperature sensors, and facilitates remote manageability via IPMI v1.5x protocol. It also manages hot swap notifications to coordinate disk servicing with front blade IPMC and the resident OS.
SB-RTM438 was designed for AdvancedTCA applications with following requirements:
- performance storage for packet processing
- transaction-intense compute applications
- enterprise endurance (NEBS-3 class)
- low power, high temperature environments
- rugged, high capacity, high throughput, mission critical requirements
