McLeod Addictive Disease Center Customer of StorTrends
Acquiring hybrid flash array after reviewing Dell, EMC and HP
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 16, 2015 at 2:54 pmStorTrends, trademark of American Megatrends, Inc., announced that the McLeod Addictive Disease Center has deployed a its 3500i SSD hybrid flash array (HFA) and a StorTrends 3400i dual controller SAN unit to its existing StorTrends deployment, serving as the backbone for its Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
The added StorTrends storage will enable McLeod to achieve expansion of its EMR environment, while ensuring flash-fast performance, as well as high level of data availability and protection.
StorTrends was initially deployed to reinforce McLeod’s EMR system upgrade, as the company transitioned to a virtualized infrastructure. Optimized to support all of the virtualization platforms, it helped McLeod to achieve the enterprise performance and reliability it required, at an affordable price point. When it came time to expand the environment, for McLeod the decision was simple regarding the storage that should serve as the foundation for the effort.
“We originally chose StorTrends after an extensive review of the likely options – such as Dell, EMC and HP. We then met with the StorTrends team and completed an exhaustive evaluation of the StorTrends’ array – the results blew us away,” said Paul Ogle, member of the IT team, McLeod. “In addition to StorTrends performing exactly as advertised, the knowledge and support we have received from the StorTrends support team has far exceeded our expectations.“
McLeod continues to use the arrays to run all of their VMs. Managing a large EMR environment, let alone one that sits on a virtualized infrastructure, can be a daunting task. However, with StorTrends, McLeod enjoys a single point of contact for all of the virtual hosts, simplifying overall management tasks such as automatic VM migration in the event of a virtual host loss or creating new LUNs on VMs. And, if a question should arise, StorTrends is available 24×7 for supportr.
“I’ve worked in IT for well over 10 years and I have seldom enjoyed the quality of support I have received from StorTrends,” added Ogle.
“McLeod has moved from a single controller 2400i SAN to the 3500i as their primary storage. With this move, McLeod has increased redundancy with dual controllers, and further enhanced their DR strategy, by backing up to the 3400i SAN. Moreover, by adding the 3500i hybrid flash storage they benefit from the ultimate combination of extreme performance and optimal capacity, at a price comparable to spinning disk – helping them to realize almost immediate and significant ROI,” said Justin Bagby, director, StorTrends. “However for me, the real news here is that there is absolutely no better seal of approval that can be achieved, then that of a satisfied customer that returns for more.“
