QnapP Launches TVS-x71 Series 10GbE Turbo vNAS
With 4K video playback and transcoding
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 28, 2015 at 2:59 pmQNAP Systems, Inc. announced the TVS-x71 series Turbo vNAS that supports 10GbE networks and provides a storage solution for 4K video playback, transcoding and on-the-fly editing.
Besides incorporating business-demanding applications and virtualization features, it features the QvPC Technology that allows the NAS to be used as a cost-effective PC by allowing users to access stored data, monitor live surveillance feeds, enjoy digital entertainment, and more.
Available in 4, 6 and 8-bay tower form-factor models, the TVS-x71 series is powered by the Intel Haswell CPU with options including Pentium, Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors for users to choose based on their demands. These processors deliver performance with over 2,300MB/s throughput and 135,000 IO/s for CPU-consuming tasks such as running virtualization station, real-time 4K video playback and transcoding, and serving large numbers of simultaneous connections.
“The high-quality hardware provides the power for users to operate multiple VMs using QNAP Virtualization Station, transcode high resolution videos in real-time or offline, and to enhance their business productivity with integrated SMB features,” said David Tsao, product manager, QNAP.
As 4K TV is poised to enter the mainstream, the 4K UHD-ready TVS-x71 series comes at the right time to allow users to enjoy the ultimate multimedia storage and playback experience. Users can enjoy 4K videos via HDMI with minimal impact to other NAS services, and with Intel HD Graphics the TVS-x71 series delivers superior real-time 4K (H.264) and 1080p video transcoding that convert videos to universal formats for playback on PCs, mobile devices, and Smart TVs. Users can still enjoy smooth videos even with limited bandwidth by selecting a pre-rendered lower resolution video to watch.
“4K video playback and powerful transcoding features make the TVS-x71 series perfect for organizations where videos are at the heart of their daily work or digital offerings, allowing for displaying sharper image quality and increasing their work productivity,” added Tsao.
QNAP’s QvPC Technology incorporates numerous technologies including VM integration, multimedia transcoding, HDMI output, cloud integration and NAS connection technologies. By connecting a keyboard, mouse and HDMI display, TVS-x71 series models are transformed into cost-effective PC substitutes for users to access stored data, run multiple applications on Windows/Linux/Unix/Android-based VMs, surf the web on Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, enjoy 4K videos with up to 7.1 audio with XBMC, monitor live feeds on Surveillance Station, and much more.
The all-in-one TVS-x71 series offers support for VMware, Microsoft and Citrix virtualization solutions to simplify virtual storage management, and features cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix users. The support for Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL improves the efficiency of permission settings. The TVS-x71 series can also act as a domain controller for Windows, and offers backup solutions for Windows and Mac users and DR solutions including RTRR, rsync and cloud storage backup.
