Digital Video Archive Wants to Replace DVD by Cloud

Digital Video Archive LLC has unveiled the DVA, the successor to DVD at the 2015 International CES Show.

The film, DVD and physical media era is dying and generations of Americans and American businesses and organizations are at risk of losing over one billion hours of film, video and digital content. This problem is compounded and grows exponentially every day as people all over the world create content with their smartphones and other devices. The state of the consumer and commercial video content creation, transfer, storage and delivery industry is murky at best.

As the industry transitions from the old (physical media) to the new (cloud-based solutions) a huge opportunity has opened up.

A DVA takes the best of DVD (menus, titles, etc.) and transfers that concept to a customized archival MP4 file. In addition, the software adds metadata to the DVA files that contains specific details regarding the project information, customer information, video chapters with thumbnails and content provider information.

DVA Deluxe is a software application designed to allow anyone to create fully authored DVA’s using an automated workflow. DVA’s can be created from live captured video or from files that have been previously captured and edited. The DVA Software is sold on a monthly subscription model. Current prices are $79.95 per month for a two-seat license and $139.95 per month for a five seat license.

Digital Video Archive is interested in finding content providers and authorized representatives. Content providers are schools, churches, organizations, governments, production companies, industry, and of course any person or group that creates video. This requires purchase of DVA Deluxe Authoring hardware and software. A DVA Deluxe unit sells for $1,795 retail. Uploading personal content from a personal account does not require any additional hardware or software.
