Storing new version of object on CAS system
By Francis Pelletier | December 22, 2014 at 3:05 pmEMC Corporation, Hopkinton, MA, has been assigned a patent (8,909,875), developed by Ostapovicz Scott, Holliston, MA and Todd Stephen J., Shrewsbury, MA, for a “methods and apparatus for storing a new version of an object on a content addressable storage system.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Some embodiments relate to storing objects on a fixed-content archive storage system. When a request to modify an object is received, a new object or portion of an object is created, rather than overwriting the previous version of the object.“
The patent application was filed on September 30, 2008 (12/241,78).
