Synology NAS DiskStation 8-Bay DS2015xs and 12-Bay DS3615xs With 20GbE

Synology, Inc. launched the DiskStation DS2015xs and DS3615xs.

Coming with built-in 10GbE SFP+ LAN ports, the 8-bay DS2015xs marks the advance of 10GbE solutions into SMBs. For large-scale businesses, the 12-bay DS3615xs offers the throughput and accuracy required for centralized storage, management, and virtualization in distributed offices.

Powered by an Cortex-A15 quad-core CPU and a RAM module expandable to 8GB, DS2015xs delivers over 1,930 MB/s throughput at a cost little more than standard NAS storage for SMBs. Its two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports as well as two 1GbE RJ-45 ports not only pave the way for businesses to transition to a 10GbE environment, but also provide support for Link Aggregation and failover. All these features, combined with the native SATA III 6Gb/s support, make it capable of handling multitasking with performance that used to be the privilege of costly enterprise-grade servers.

DS3615xs is equipped with a 3.4GHz dual-core x64 processor with an AES-NI hardware encryption engine, giving it throughput at over 2,350 MB/s and over 236,350 IO/s with a 10GbE NIC installed. For mission-critical applications, the expandable ECC RAM module (up to 32GB) ensures data is correctly read and written with performance. Through the four Gigabit LAN ports along with a PCIe 3.0 slot, DS3615xs also marks its place in the high-speed data transfer era, and is particularly suitable for virtualization deployment. In addition, backed by R/W-optimized SSD cache and SATA III support, the model is designed to unleash the potential of fast SSDs while minimizing the cost per gigabyte.

Both DS2015xs and DS3615xs can be scaled up to a raw capacity of 120 and 216TB respectively by connecting DX1215 expansion units. Taking advantage of their multiple LAN ports, the support of Synology HA also ensures high uptime and resiliency. Certified by VMware, Citrix, and Hyper-V, both NAS servers can be integrated into a company’s virtualization environment and act as a powerful central storage.
