Hie Electronics Announces Authorization to Operate (ATO)

Granted by Department of Defense

Hie Electronics, Inc., in scalable active archive and storage solutions and the manufacturer of the TeraStack Solution, has been granted an Authorization to Operate (ATO) by the Department of Defense for all Defense Health Agency Automated Information Systems (DHA AIS) through March 2017.

ATO-TeraStack

Hie Electronics has integrated the TeraStack solution, an active archive storage system designed and manufactured by the company, for use as archive storage for digitized pathology slides, radiology pictures, and general patient records. The TeraStack Solution allows for up to 64TB of data on online HDDs, 50-100 TB of data to be nearline accessible on Blu-ray optical media, and unlimited data to be stored offline in removable/remountable intelligent cartridges. The TeraStack solution is energy efficiency by using a hybrid data architecture that moves fixed content onto lower cost storage tiers, coupled with Blu-ray media to store the sleeping data, which eliminates the need for HDDs to constantly spin and consume energy.

We are very pleased to be granted the authorization to operate within the Department of Defense Health Agency,” said Patrick Humm, founder and president, Hie Electronics. “We believe that as both government and private pathology and radiology labs learn about the benefits for both TCO and energy efficiency, they will look for more opportunities to integrate our products into their existing data architecture.

The TeraStack solution can be used for medical industry applications as well as critical backup, public and private cloud archiving, cold storage, digital asset management, film and video archiving, forensic evidence storage, geospatial imaging data archiving and storage, and digital video surveillance storage.
