Storage Made Easy Linux App Updates for Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution
Sync cloud files to/from the Linux desktop
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 29, 2014 at 3:04 pmStorage Made Easy (SME) announced updates to their Linux Apps for their Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution.
The updates focus on security, performance and feature updates. As part of the suite of Linux Apps SME provide a Linux ‘Cloud’ Drive that makes cloud files accessible directly from a desktop mount using FUSE (File System in UserSpace). In this release the Cloud Drive App has been updated with support for encryption. The enterprise solution supports private encryption of files as part of the underlying Cloud Control Gateway that is part of the SME Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution.
TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) are protocols that provide data encryption and authentication between applications and servers in scenarios where that data is being sent across an insecure network. For strengthened security the SME Linux Apps will now only use the TLS protocol for HTTPS requests. This improvement has been made due to the recent SSL3 reported ‘poodle’ breach.
Another part of the suite of Linux tools is the desktop Sync Center which can sync folders and files for offline use. In this release the Sync Center performance has been optimised and CPU usage has been improved. Users who have many files will find the Sync Center will sync files/folders two times faster than previously.
The Enterprise Sync Solution supports every desktop OS, Mac Windows and Linux, and supports a Linux solution.
SME currently supports more than 45 private and public data clouds such a Amazon S3, OpenStack, EMC Atmos, Cloudian and CleverSafe. SME also covers every mobile OS inclusive of iOS, Android Windows Phone, Windows Tablet, and BlackBerry (both OS versions).
Jim Liddle, CEO, Storage Made Easy, said: “We have supported Linux from the first incarnation of our service and it is important to many of our Enterprise customers. We will continue the support and look forward to providing further feature enhancement, optimisations and support for further distros.“
