This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 14, 2014 at 2:42 pmThe Storage Made Easy Private Enterprise File Sync and Share Solution is an on-premise solution that is private and can be deployed by enterprises as well as being available as a white-label OEM solution for service providers and companies that want to embed file share and sync into their own products.
This version of the EFSS solution adds support for CleverSafe, Cloudian, AmpliData, CMIS, and Jive as well as strengthening integration support for LDAP identity management. Governance and audit controls have also been strengthened with the introduction of ‘audit watch’ a service that provides real time update on files that have been nominated to track. The events auditor has also been enhanced to support the output of file event data in SysLog format for use with solutions such as Splunk.
The solution supports over 5,000 business customers with over 50 of these customer deployed on premise or IaaS using their own private EFSS service. The largest deployment is for 250,000 users, geo load balanced between east and west coast US and UK and Amsterdam. The solution is also white labelled by over 20 service providers globally in locations such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, Israel, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, and South Africa.
“The Storage Made Easy Enterprise File Share and Sync solution concentrates on private enterprise file share and sync for corporate data” said CEO Jim Liddle. “Our focus is firmly on being an EFSS solution for either private or cloud corporate data, or a combination of both. We are a facilitator in that sense but we can be used as an EFSS solution for any private data store, such as OpenStack Swift.“
The offering differs from other EFSS solution in that it is storage agnostic, supporting over 45 private and public data clouds. The solution is provided for private on-premise behind the firewall deployment or is available on IaaS. The solution covers every desktop OS, Mac Windows and Linux, and SME is one of the only vendors to have a Linux solution. Specifically it has plug-in’s for Open Office and Microsoft Office as well as for Microsoft Outlook and for Mac Mail and Mac Outlook. The solution also provides native cloud drives for each platform to providing a means to navigate large amounts of corporate data without downloading it to the desktop.
The solution also covers every mobile OS, iOS, Android Windows Phone, Windows Tablet, and BlackBerry (both OS versions). SME also offers versions of their mobile Apps for Oracle Mobile Security Suite and also Sector, a secure app ecosystem endorsed by leading service providers worldwide.
The solution also provides governance controls with audit logs that can be exposed at a business level for download or archive. The solution has already been used and deployed as part of HIPPA AND FISMA solutions and integrates with Active Directory and LDAP from an Identity Management perspective.
The SME solution is also offered on the UK G-Cloud, an IL3 level service as well as with Amazon GovCloud in the US.
The solution also embeds a protocol layer that supports WebDav, FTP, SFTP and an S3 compatible API above any data store for integration with common apps or hardware.
The solution can also be deployed with a specific integration developed for Apache Lucene to enable deep content search of data stored in distributed private and public clouds. Veritext did such a deployment with the solution for their Veritext Vault service.
