Intevac Got Order for One 200 Lean Magnetic Disk Sputtering System

Intevac, Inc. announced an order for one 200 Lean magnetic disk sputtering system.

“We are very pleased to receive this order from an existing customer, demonstrating that the industry continues to invest in its magnetic media development and production capabilities,” commented Wendell Blonigan, president and CEO, Intevac. “We expect to ship this system in the fourth quarter of this year.“

Intevac was founded in 1991 and has two businesses: equipment and photonics.

In equipment business, it’s a leader in the design and development of high-productivity, thin film processing systems. Production platforms are designed for high-volume manufacturing of substrates with precise thin film properties.

Intevac is the market and technology leader in the hard drive industry, with systems processing approximately 60% of all magnetic disk media produced worldwide. Performance, high-throughput technology solutions continue to expand into additional markets – including solar and adjacent thin film deposition applications.

In photonics business, it is a developer of advanced high-sensitivity digital sensors, cameras and systems that primarily serve the defense industry.
