This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 24, 2014 at 2:49 pmSynology, Inc. announced the latest in its XS series, with the RackStation RS3614xs.
The XS model runs off of the company’s DSM 5.0. It provides enterprise storage features for SMBs, at an affordable cost.
Built-in redundancy to minimize business down time
The product was designed to keep businesses in motion. It’s built with a mixture of passive and active cooling. Redundant replaceable fans speed up in the event of failure. The redundant power variant, the RS3614RPxs features dual hot-swappable power supplies to withstand failure of a power-circuit or power supply.
Four gigabit NICs comprise the default network configuration for LAG, load balancing, and failover. throughput can be enhanced with two PCIe Gen3 x8 expansion slots; making it possible to add dual 10GbE cards to support a total of 4x10GbE. Additionally, the DSM offers HA, which helps to protect against downtime with active/passive server clustering.
Track record for reliability
PCMag has awarded the company business products to be among the most reliable. In an effort to exceed the needs of customers, it is providing a limited 5 year warranty to all current XS and XS+ series RackStations, helping to preserve the investment for the long term and offer greater peace of mind.
Scalability delivered for growing businesses
The solution is designed to expand along with the needs of growing companies. An additional 24 bays can be added with two RX1214(RP) expansion chassis. Together the RS3614(RP)xs can accommodate a total of 36-bays, adding up to 216TBs of raw storage – using 6TB drives.
Virtual storage support to increase efficiency
The RS3614xs is certified for VMware vShpere 5, VAAI, Xenserver, and Windows Server 2012 R2. Certification enables functions that offload specific storage operations from the primary server. It primes computation power for more efficient performance in virtualization environments.
Collaborate securely in private cloud
For businesses that need to share pools of data for collaborative work, DSM has introduced peerless bidirectional sync. Files, file-types, and selected folders can be synced with another Disk or RackStation – wherever they may be located – without intermediating hardware. Businesses can share common assets with Cloud Station, which is included within the DSM package.
“The RS3614xs is a fantastic value for growing businesses that need speed and expandability,” said Thadd Weil, PR specialist, Synology America. “This is a high-performance robust storage, loaded with utility that almost any SMB can find uniquely accessible; and with the addition of our new five year standard warranty, we back it up even further; helping users to invest securely at no additional cost.“
The RS3614(RP)xs is shipping, and will be available in the United States in the next couple of weeks.
