Storage Made Easy Adds CMIS Connector to Share and Sync Solution
Open standard allowing different content management systems to inter-operate over Internet
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 20, 2014 at 2:50 pmStorage Made Easy (Vehera Ltd.) added a Connector for file and storage vendors that supports the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) specification.
CMIS is an open standard that allows different content management systems to inter-operate over the Internet. It defines an abstraction layer for controlling diverse document management systems and repositories using web protocols.
Examples of CMIS enabled systems include Alfresco, Documentum, Filenet, and OpenText.
SME users of CMIS data repositories will gain access to network drive integration direct to the CMIS data store, desktop sync, and email integration for Mac, Windows or Linux desktops. All mobile devices are supported, and there are specific integrations for Microsoft Office and Open Office.
Jim Liddle, Storage Made Easy CEO, stated: “Adding CMIS to the SME platform was an easy choice to make. One of the aims of the CMIS specification was the development of generic clients for multiple repositories. Similarly the SME solution already works against an increasingly large repository of File, Storage and SaaS vendors to provide a single access and control and point for client access in conjunction with secure file sharing and corporate governance and policy control.“
Liddle finished by saying “As we engage with more enterprises with our private enterprise file share and sync we will continue to integrate and use the corporate repositories they work with and CMIS repositories are an important part of this.“
