This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 20, 2014 at 2:55 pmA Kickstarter campaign was launched aiming to put a smartphone-controlled SSD HDD into production, changing the way we access and store data.
SoSecure is an encrypted 256-bit AES solid-state HDD that is controlled entirely by smartphone, for a convenient storage solutions.
The 2.5-inch drive communicates via Bluetooth and gives data destruction capability via smartphone for peace of mind in boardrooms all over the world. The drive combines technology with security concepts for defense, security and commerce.
The SoSecure Kickstarter campaign is aiming to put the innovation into further production, with an eye for shipping the Early Bird devices in October 2014; the team are hoping to raise over £130,000 to get this creation out onto the market.
James Little, founder, SoSecure says: “Not only have we created a high -performance solid-state disk drive that is perfect for corporate and private use, we’ve also put the perfect 21st century twist on the technology by making it smartphone-compatible. From the Zero-Touch Backup facility to a motion detection sensor so you can tell if your drive has been moved, we’ve given the drive everything it could possibly need to become the most sought-after security and storage gadgets on the market.“
With iOS and Android apps available to facilitate the management of the drive, the SoSecure drive is easy to use. Users enter their PIN to take control of their drive, managing their data, checking their battery status or even destroying all of the data on the drive from the smartphone. The corresponding app executes a ‘crypto sanitization’ of the drive by flipping the encryption key and deleting the data on the drive.
The exterior is also kitted out to withstand the rigors of everyday life, whilst maintaining an attractive aesthetic. With oak, plastic and carbon cases available, the SoSecure is an addition to office desk, combining form and function like no other SSDs on the market.
As with all Kickstarter campaigns, donors and backers have access to a range of rewards for their support. The Super Early Bird reward costs just £215 and sees backers receive a 64GB SoSecure drive in cool Carbon Fibre – worth £262. Pledging £273 or more will get backers a custom engraved drive, and the rewards escalate in accordance with the cost of the pledge.
The top level reward costs £984 and includes a Zero Touch Backup Pod and not one, but two 128GB SoSecure drives, all personally engraved and available in the colour of the backer’s choice – the reward of a lifetime for security enthusiasts and data hoarders.
