Sher.ly With Box to Share Private Files

Sherlybox, a new project by Sher.ly Inc., was presented on the Kickstarter.

Measuring 5.9 cross 4.6 inches, this oval device may change sharing of large amounts of data between electronic devices.

The first goal is to reach the amount of $69,000 funded.

The early units are supposed to reach their new owners in November 2014.

Fundraisers offer rewards for support, including t-shirts, jackets, and the first Sherlyboxes.

“Sherlybox offers a more efficient way to work with large files, allowing you to save time and money, ensuring data confidentialityat the same time,” said Blazej Marciniak, Sher.ly’s CEO.

“Kickstarter is the most popular crowdfunding platform, a perfect place to promote innovation and a good barometer of the attitudes of potential customers,” Marek Ciesla, Sher.ly co-founder added.

Sherlybox is an alternative to public cloud services such as Dropbox or Box, where files must be uploaded to a public cloud before sharing, the transfer of larger files takes a long time, and you need to pay for extra storage. Furthermore, confidential files may be exposed to third parties.

By contrast to these services, Sherlybox operates in a closed environment. Seeded files, regardless of their size, are visible to receivers after a fews. To exchange data with someone, you only need to send an invitation. Each of the group members decides,which files are needed and syncs only selected files and folders. Nothing is sent to a public cloud. Sherlybox is a private, shareable cloud.

Sherlybox offers easier configuration and intuitive disk space management from the application level – unlike the average NAS storage. Just press the Sher.ly button on the case three times to connect to any computer running Mac OSX, Windows or Linux OS. The C Raspberry PI module, 4GB of RAM and – depending on the version – a slot for a 2.5-inch HDD or internal 1TB HDD can be found inside.

Sherlybox supports Plex.tv and XMBC media center, which allows for watching its content directly on TV. Device is equipped with an audio output, HDMI and USB 2.0 ports.

You can access all your public cloud accounts (Dropbox, Box, Google Drive) directly from the Sher.ly application, which makes data migration and sharing easier.
