ASG-Digital Archive Updated
Instant ingest of LTFS tape, archiving to S3 and object-base archiving
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 5, 2014 at 2:49 pmASG Software Solutions has enhanced the storage of digital archive data for the media industry with updates to its archiving solution ASG-Digital Archive (ADA).
The updates include instant ingest of LTFS media for improved storage and organisation of data, archiving to Amazon S3 and EMC Atmos for more efficient cloud storage, integration with Primestream FORK 4.6 for media asset management and integration with Object Matrix, Caringo and DataDirect Networks object storages to push the limits of disk storage.
Instant LTFS Media Ingest
Instant ingest of LTFS media to the archive enables customers to add LTFS media provided by subcontractors or partners to their central archive powered by ASG-Digital Archive in just two clicks.
The first adds the tape media to the tape library and the second instructs ADA to scan the LTFS media content for free storage space and add the files to the archive database. This saves users time and effort by eliminating the need to extract tape content to disk just to archive it to tape again, making it immediate and simple to consolidate content edited by sub-contractors and partners into the archive solution.
Cloud-Storage Based Archiving
With growing requests from small and large post-production companies to archive part of their data to the cloud, the company has upgraded its integration with EMC Atmos for medium and large companies looking to implement private cloud storage. To further fulfill data archiving needs in the cloud, it has also added support for Amazon S3 cloud storage (via the S3 REST API) for small and medium volumes.
These integrations with cloud storage also provide users with complementary scenarios for DR in the cloud, making it an accessible solution for archive repositories.
Object-Storage Based Archiving
With feature film productions reaching 500 TB in size, with either large files or numerous small files, standard files systems have reached their limits. This solution integrates with Object Storage solutions such as Object Matrix, Caringo and DataDirect Networks to offer scalable and nearly unlimited archive solution to its customers.
Media Asset Management
To achieve media asset management, the company has integrated ASG-Digital Archive with the latest version of Primestream’s flagship suite FORK Production. The version of the ADA plug-in for FORK leverages capabilities provided by FORK Drones to offer more intimate and scalable integration between the two solutions, achieving a more complete, automated management framework for media companies.
“As the media industry continues to evolve, more and more companies are realising the importance of having a secure archiving solution for their content and files,” said Armel Bilé, ASG-Digital Archive product manager. “We are providing state-of-the-art software that can satisfy everything from tape to cloud archiving requirements – and, it is our goal to ensure that we offer the necessary integrations and technologies to suit their needs. These three updates show our commitment to delivering the most valuable solution.“
