This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 29, 2014 at 2:53 pmTarmin Inc., in data defined storage solutions, announced the availability of the GridBank Data Management Platform 4.0.
This release delivers enhancements that improve infrastructure flexibility to reduce capital and operational costs, streamline data governance and enable data-in-place analytics to help organizations leverage their data as a competitive asset, as well as providing multiple access and protocol support to enable end-to-end mobility and a transparent path to the cloud.
“With the release of GridBank 4.0, Tarmin continues to improve how organizations manage and gain value from unstructured data with a data centric approach that allows them to unlock the value of data assets and make forward-looking, business-critical decisions,” said Shahbaz Ali, president and CEO, Tarmin. “The enhancements and new innovations introduced in GridBank 4.0 provide a robust, reliable data defined storage solution, allowing organizations to consolidate data into a massively scalable architecture that enables transparent, non-disruptive transitioning of traditional storage infrastructures into an application aware private, public or hybrid scale out cloud storage.”
The availability of GridBank 4.0 follows a year of growth for Tarmin and validates the market potential for data defined storage. IDC estimates that worldwide revenue for scale-out unstructured storage solutions, such as data defined storage, will exceed $34.6 billion in 2016.
GridBank Data Management Platform 4.0, includes new features and enhancements that deliver end-to-end data protection, governance, search, discovery and access, regardless of the file type, device or social origination. It also offers random access with Enterprise Obect Storage, which improves performance, accelerates data retrieval time and delivers scalability to multiple petabyte levels and beyond.
GridBank 4.0 delivers a social media REST API, that provides a common interface to any social media provider, allowing social streams and instant messaging data to be brought into a centralized storage repository to be indexed and archived for compliance, e-Discovery and analytics. Its distributed metadata repository, GridBank MetaBase, embeds metadata intelligence into the infrastructure so organizations can point big data analytics tools, such as Hadoop, directly at the pre-processed metadata store rather than the broader data repositories, eliminating the need for migration to separate analytics storage pools and enabling real time, data-in-place analytics.
“Tarmin’s release of version 4.0 of its GridBank Data Management Platform is timely as the volume and velocity of unstructured data growth continues to accelerate,” said Mark Peters, senior analyst, ESG. “GridBank 4.0 provides a comprehensive solution that allows businesses to apply organization and realize the operational value that is otherwise trapped in that data onslaught; as IT professionals clamor to cope with the compound transformative demands of cloud, analytic, mobile and social platforms, the need for a new, data-defined approach to IT models, such as GridBank, is clear.“
The GridBank Data Management Platform is supported by partners around the world, including technology partners, solution partners, service providers and systems integrators and resellers. In addition, Tarmin’s channel partner program, the Tarmin OverDrive Program (TOP) continues to grow.
