Addonics Drive Kit ($25)

To replace HDDs with 2.5-inch M2 and mSATA SSDs

Addonics Technologies, Inc. announced a family of 2.5″ flash drive kits that allow users to replace 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch HDDs in notebook PCs or other systems with the three popular types of flash cards.

New models include the 2.5″ M2 (NGFF or Next Generation Form Factor) SSD drive, which allows to use the new M2 (NGFF) SSD cards, in the form factor of 30, 42, 60 or 80 mm length, as a direct replacement for a 2.5″ SATA HDD; the 2.5″ mSATA flash drive, which uses the mSATA SSD to replace SATA HDDs, and the 2.5″ IDE mSATA flash drive, which replaces a 2.5″ IDE HDD with a low power and shock resistant mSATA SSD.

The two SATA models are made with components that support operations in industrial temperature range. By using industrial type flash cards, these two SATA models can be deployed in harsh industrial operating environments.

The 2.5″ M.2 NGFF flash drive kit is a solution to replace a mechanical HDD with a low power, shock resistant and high performance M2 SSDe. The new M2 form factor SSDs are smaller, lighter, and consume less power. They can maximize performance in mobile devices when used as a cache drive (in tandem with a HDD). They also offer enough storage space to load an OS and thus can be used as a bootable drive for embedded applications, ultrabooks, and next generation notebooks.

All 2.5″ flash drives come with a converter board mounted inside a light weight and durable aluminum frame with dimensions and mounting holes to mimic a 9mm 2.5″ SATA HDD. The user needs to mount the preferred flash SSD onto the adapter in the drive. This makes for easy conversion of older HDDs to SSD, and allows users to utilize the latest flash media from several suppliers.

All models have a MSRP of $24.95 and are OS independent with no software drivers required.

Addonics products are available through the company online store, catalog companies, resellers, VARs and distributors.
