This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 14, 2014 at 3:00 pmFUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of FUJIFILM Corporation, manufacturer of storage media, announced Dternity, a storage and archiving solution for organizations seeking to preserve and protect their critical data.
Combining cost-effective data tape with seamless onsite and online content protection, Dternity’s holistic approach to archiving is easy to use, reliable and scalable for future data growth.
“Dternity gives customers a complete deep storage and archiving solution that offers unparalleled access, superior protection and easy retrieval for even the most data-heavy organizations,” said Peter Faulhaber, president, FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A. “Customers can now easily leverage the economics of tape to empower their archive without sacrificing accessibility to their files and projects.”
“Tape as a storage medium has seen a resurgence in recent years but IT professionals have struggled with how to integrate or re-integrate tape into their data centers. Dternity marks a dramatic step forward by creating an easy to access archive that integrates disk, tape and even cloud into a single automated archive,” said George Crump, lead analyst, Storage Switzerland.
Dternity combines tape media, onsite network storage appliances, and online vaulting to streamline and simplify the data archive process:
Dternity Archive Media
Based on Fujifilm’s NANOCUBIC technology that incorporates Barium Ferrite (BaFe) particles to offer performance and longer archival life compared to conventional metal particle (MP) tape, Dternity Archive Media is used to enable seamless movement of content between the Dternity NAS and the Dternity Media Cloud.
Dternity NAS
On-site NAS appliance is built to provide online data access, low-cost scalability and data protection for unstructured, fixed content. Using LTFS tape technology, the NAS delivers the performance of disk with the economics of tape in one simple and massively scalable solution.
Dternity Media Cloud
Complete online storage solution preserves and protects digital data archives. Features include multiple connection methods, customizable SLAs, regulatory-compliant security, mobile support, auto-migration, and archive verification.
Dternity is available, with advanced portal access coming in late 2014. Customers can learn more about Fujifilm Dternity at NAB 2014 in Las Vegas, beginning April 7.
