… That Also Boston Unveils End-to-End 12Gb SAS Storage Server
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 13, 2014 at 2:51 pmBoston Limited, now in its 20th year as distribution partner for Super Micro Computer, Inc., unveiled an end-to-end 12Gb SAS 3.0 storage solution that features LSI Corp.’s MegaRAID technology and the LSI 12Gb SAS Expander with DataBolt bandwidth optimiser, at CeBIT 2014.
The Boston Igloo 2U-16T-Stor is a storage server that utilises SAS 3.0 technology to deliver double the performance of the previous generation 6Gb SAS interconnect.
For businesses looking to balance the management of big data with the performance levels required of I/O intensive applications, the Igloo 2U-16T-Stor combines MegaRAID technology, LSI DataBolt bandwidth optimisation, Supermicro hardware and 24 Western Digital XE 900GB 2.5-inch HDDs to create an enterprise platform for enterprise datacentre, cloud, virtualised server and OLTP environments.
With the inclusion of LSI’s latest generation of 12Gb SAS controller, the Igloo 2U-16T-Stor can provide the data protection and performance demanded by both applications and end users. The MegaRAID SAS 9361-4i 12Gb SAS and SATA RAID controller card addresses the demands of applications and end users by delivering proven performance and RAID data protection for a range of server storage applications. In addition the Igloo 2U-16T-Stor is pre-installed with Windows Server 2012 R2, enabling users to deploy and manage a multi-tenant cloud infrastructure within a flexible IT environment.
Manoj Nayee, MD, Boston Limited, says: “Boston is delighted to launch our latest 12Gb SAS 3.0 solution, in partnership with LSI and Supermicro, that doubles the acceleration in storage performance for I/O intensive applications. With the constantly increasing demand for faster data access, problems caused by IO bottlenecks can seriously impact the chances of a business achieving its goals. Leveraging SAS 3.0 can help dramatically lower latency, improve performance and remove data bottlenecks that were previously unavoidable with existing technology.”
“As data traffic and consumption continues to grow, the hardware infrastructure within today’s datacentre needs to provide new levels of performance, reliability and scalability. Our portfolio of 12Gb/s MegaRAID SAS controllers and expanders delivers application accelerating performance, enhanced data protection and reduced TCO for the most demanding datacentres. We are delighted to be demonstrating these capabilities together with Boston at CeBIT,” said Thomas Pavel, EMEA director, channel sales, LSI.
