M6 SSDs by Plextor, Already Pre-Announced, at CeBIT
2.5-inch M6S SATA, M6M mSATA and M6e M.2 PCIe devices up to 512GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 10, 2014 at 2:58 pmPlextor, owned by Shinano Kenshi CO. Ltd. of Japan, reveals its new M6 Solid State Drive Solution at the 2014 edition of CeBIT in Hannover, Germany.
The M6 multi-form factor lineup features Plextor’s next-generation and new 2.5″ M6S, the new M6M mSATA SSD and the new ultra-fast M6e M.2 PCIe SSD.
Building up to the official introduction of the anticipated M6 series Plextor will be demonstrating.
At CeBIT, Plextor demonstrates:
- M6S, 2.5″ SATA SSD: Combined with company’s own firmware the M6S series will feature sustained sequential read/write speeds up to 520MB/s and 440MB/s and random R/W speeds up to 94,000 and 80,000 IO/s. It will also feature 19nm Toggle NAND flash from Toshiba. The SSD is a replacement for a traditional HDD with faster boot times, shorter application load times and overall improved system performance. The M6S will be available in capacities up to 512GB.
- M6M, mSATA SSD: The M6M mSATA drive is the solution for users wishing to upgrade any device that requires SSD with a small footprint. It will be available in capacities up to 512GB and features R/W speeds of 520MB/s and 440MB/s, and random R/W speeds of 94,000 and 80,000 IO/s.
- M6e, PCIe SSD: It is a native PCIe SSD solution to eliminate the performance bottleneck of SATA III. It is capable of delivering sequential read/write speeds up to 770/625MB/s and random R/W speeds of 105,000/100,000 IO/s. The M6e is automatically recognized as an AHCI device requiring no additional drivers. When used as a boot disk on a system with UEFI start-up times are cut in half. It is an add-on for high performance systems in capacities up to 512GB.
More details on the availability and pricing of the M6 series will be released at a later stage.
