Spanning Backup for Google Apps
For status reporting and proactive notifications
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 13, 2014 at 2:49 pmSpanning Cloud Apps, Inc., provider of backup and recovery for cloud applications, announced an update to its Spanning Backup for Google Apps.
The new feature enhancements include a complete and transparent backup status reporting and proactive notifications.
The product update is a part of Spanning’s commitment to earn and maintain high degree of trust from its customers by providing them with the ability to know exactly what Google Apps data is protected, and what is not protected. Furthermore, it allows users to find and restore lost data to the state it was in before it was lost.
“Trust and transparency are non-negotiable with respect to cloud application backup,” said Jeff Erramouspe, CEO, Spanning Cloud Apps. “We want our customers to live unencumbered by fear of the cloud, and to take risks without worrying about data loss. One of the things customers most appreciate about Spanning is the transparency we provide in reporting the status of their backups. For example, not all Google Apps data can be backed up due to API limitations. Spanning Backup offers the status updates and proactive alerts to highlight any issues that the customer would need to review and remediate to ensure proper backup is taking place. This gives customers visibility into their Google Apps backup that they need for peace of mind. That’s how trust is earned and maintained, and that’s our commitment.”
The redesigned status reports and notifications provide administrators in-depth insight into the completeness of their backups along with item-level details and actionable guidance for addressing any problems. These features further enable to deliver accurate and reliable restores.
With the redesign, customers can now:
- View all problems categorized by type so they are easy to understand and actionable;
- Identify data that cannot be backed up due to Google API limitations;
- View a detailed list of problems by day for the entire domain or for individual users;
- Get actionable instructions inline to resolve each problem;
- Receive proactive email alerts that summarize the status details for administrators;
- Export a filtered list of problems for offline review or for use as input to a helpdesk solution; and,
- Identify potentially corrupt files in Google Drive (such as ‘ghost’ files with a size of zero bytes).
“When selecting a backup cloud vendor, you are not looking to simply buy a service, but looking for an organization to partner with, and someone you can trust,” said Steve Simmons, IT director and senior cloud aArchitect, AMAG Pharmaceuticals, Inc. “After all, they are holding your backup data and it is crucial to have an open channel of communication. This is true both early in the process to see if the service is a proper fit for your organization, and from a support standpoint, once in production. My key take away from this product update is that Spanning listens to their customers, and that equals confidence.”
The redesigned features compliment the strengths of the product delivering 100% accurate restores and enterprise-grade security including SSAE 16 Type II compliance, TRUSTe privacy and security seals, certification under the US-EU and US-Swiss Safe Harbor Frameworks and 256-bit AES encryption.
The update to Spanning Backup for Google Apps is available to customers.
