Promise Updates NVR Vess A2000 Storage Appliance
Doubling performance throughput for HD video in RAID-6
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 7, 2014 at 2:54 pmPROMISE Technology, Inc. updated their Vess A2000 Series NVR storage appliance to deliver support for the Video Management Software (VMS) solutions, provide up to double the performance throughput for HD video in RAID-6 configurations and offer support for the Surveillance Solution Planner tool which helps determine the overall installation requirements of a given project.
The company has partnered with many VMS vendors for this service release by certifying the appliance with solutions in the industry, including applications from AxxonSoft, Genetec, OnSSI, SeeTec, and Milestone Systems, while also adding support for Windows Server 2008 R2.
With a new OS supported and a range of VMS validated, it offers customers possibilities when building surveillance deployments. Additionally, it supports the Milestone XProtect plug-in which allows users to manage the appliance via the management user interface of XProtect. The WebPAM ProE management graphic user interface is embedded in the Milestone XProtect application environment and runs as an integrated part of the software and its client applications, making it more convenient for users to manage their storage.
The update includes support for the Surveillance Solution Planner, a tool that helps determine the overall installation requirements of a given video surveillance project. It is designed to calculate the total storage space and bandwidth needed, in addition to the requirements for recording servers and external storage, while also including a topology of the installation for reference. This tool makes it easier to build a high-performance surveillance deployment designed for the security requirements of each installation.
With surveillance deployments requiring an increasing number of cameras at high frame rates and high resolution, there is a demand placed on throughput. The service release has fine-tuned the performance of the appliance to deliver up to double the performance throughput for HD video in RAID-6 configurations compared to the original release.
“We are very pleased to enhance the Vess A2000 Series surveillance appliance to offer added coverage throughout the surveillance ecosystem while making it easier to manage and build surveillance installations,” said James Lee, CEO, PROMISE. “Vess users now have more flexibility to customize their solution to meet budget and security needs.“
The updated appliance for IP video surveillance is available through company’s network of distributors and VARs.
