diskAshur USB 3.0 PRO HDD and SSD Launched by iStorage in UK
FIPS 140-2 level 2 certified for security
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 26, 2014 at 2:51 pmiStorage Limited, in secure portable storage and encryption, has launched two new products into the UK market.
diskAshur PRO and diskAshur PRO SSD are both FIPS 140-2 level 2 certified, certificate number 1970. Whilst delivering portable and rugged data protection with USB 3.0 connectivity, the two new products enable rapid and secure access via a unique PIN code for peace of mind.
Considered a benchmark in US government data security, FIPS 140-2 is a recognised metric that demonstrates a technology device has passed a set of rigorous testing procedures and meets high standard set for encryption algorithms and data protection. The standard examines 11 areas of a cryptographic module used by a device’s security system, including physical security, cryptographic key management and design assurance.
diskAshur PRO
The dust and water resistant diskAshur PRO HDD drive is available in 500GB (£209), 1TB (£269) and 1.5TB (£319) capacities. Its rugged casing and tamper-resistant epoxy-coated circuitry offers protection from physical attacks and hides key usage to avoid tipping off a potential hacker to commonly used keys. The addition of a new ‘shift’ key also increases the number of possible PIN combinations, securing data even further.
diskAshur PRO SSD
The SSD version of diskAshur PRO has no moving mechanical components and stores data in memory chips meaning it is rugged. Like the diskAshur PRO, its software free design means it provides a rapid set up time along with the ability to run on any platform. The device allows for up to four unique user IDs and one administrator, making it a collaboration tool.
“The information security standard certification FIPS 140-2 is a vital measure of data protection at a time when cyber security still ranks as one of the most prominent issues. It will reassure organisations from government to finance and healthcare of all sizes around the world of the robust level of protection offered by iStorage’s security devices,” said John Michael, CEO, iStorage. “Companies need to do more to ensure data is secure at all times and FIPS confirms that our new range of storage devices has been subjected to a rigorous set of tests by a certified third-party laboratory.”
