For Aspire Z3-600 all-in-one computer

PLX Technology, Inc. announced that Acer, Inc., an information and communication technology company, has chosen PLX PCIe-to-USB device controller technology for its Acer Aspire Z3-600 all-in-one personal computer.

PLX’s USB Duet technology provides Aspire Z3-600 users with the advantage of simple, plug-and-play device sharing using a standard USB cable between the Z3-600 and any other Windows-based computers, such as notebooks, ultra-books and tablets – including keyboard and mouse sharing, file sharing, and full HD touchable display sharing.

The Aspire Z3-600 all-in-one with ultra HD and optimized sound was designed for modern homes,” said Andrew Hou, GM of stationary computing business unit, Acer. “With PLX’s USB Duet controller technology, users can easily connect this device to another for file sharing, data access or synchronizing. It’s a great feature that enhances the overall convenience we provide to Acer PC users for their daily computing tasks.

The Aspire Z3-600 all-in-one computer provides a highly versatile PC interface for connecting to any other Windows computer, as well as a gaming console, so it truly becomes a multimedia hub for home entertainment,” said Gene Schaeffer, EVP, global sales, PLX. “The choice of adopting PLX USB Duet technology shows Acer’s commitment to being a pioneer in the industry and we look forward to active engagement on future projects.

PLX PCIe-to-USB device controller technology bridges the performance of both PCIe Gen2 and USB 3.0, thus enabling bus speeds up to 5Gbps. The controllers can add a USB 3.0 client port to an existing PCIe system, as well as convert existing PCIe functions (endpoints) to a USB 3.0 product. The company is committed to compliance to the USB standard, while focused on performance and low power, and design support including hardware and software tools, collateral, and dedicated staff support. In addition to PCs, PLX USB controllers are designed into products including multi-function printers, portable storage, DVRs, dongles, and projectors.

PLX introduced SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) general-purpose peripheral controllers that bridge USB 3.0 to PCIe 2.0 in March 2011. Designers are offered a complementary USB software suite that simplifies adding a USB 3.0 peripheral port to PCIe-based systems, as well as converting PCIe endpoints to USB 3.0 products.
