Pluribus Networks Integrates Netvisor Software With Oracle Solaris

Powers Freedom Server-Switch products and use Openstack for private and public cloud.

Pluribus Networks Inc. announced a relationship with Oracle Corp. to integrate its network hypervisor software, Netvisor, with Oracle Solaris 11 to power the Pluribus Freedom Server-Switch product line.

Oracle customers can deploy cloud solutions with a compute, network, storage and virtualization infrastructure operated under Oracle Solaris’ cloud automation. Pluribus is a gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork.

As a sponsor of the OpenStack Foundation, we are committed to offering our customers the ability to manage Oracle cloud products and services using OpenStack,” said Markus Flierl, VP, Oracle Solaris. “By integrating Pluribus Networks’ innovative network hypervisor and Freedom Server-Switch platform into the Oracle Solaris ecosystem, our joint customers will soon be able to use OpenStack as a common cloud management infrastructure across compute, network and storage.

We are delighted that Oracle will be leveraging Pluribus Networks’ open platform to deliver an unparalleled level of cloud infrastructure integration where compute, network, storage and virtualization can operate as an extension of each other under the Oracle Solaris architecture,” said Kumar Srikantan, CEO, Pluribus.

This relationship between the two companies will have benefits for the growing number of more than 4,000 Oracle Solaris 11 customers who have gone into production since the release of Oracle Solaris 11.

Benefits are:

  • The ability to use OpenStack to manage Oracle Solaris 11 running on compute nodes via the Nova plug-in, as well as Pluribus switches via the Neutron plug-in, and Oracle Solaris-based ZS3 Series storage via the Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Cinder Driver, allowing joint customers to take advantage of the stability, scalability and security of Oracle Solaris
  • OpenStack-based cloud architecture to help eliminate costly integration and testing work for enterprise private clouds
  • Elastic provisioning of virtual networking services: running Oracle Solaris 11 on the Pluribus Freedom Server-Switches means that virtual networking services can be dynamically re-provisioned from a compute node to a networking node in order to maximize throughput performance while minimizing latency
  • Advanced OpenStack integration with the unique ability to provision virtual services along with virtual networks with the Pluribus cloud underlay virtualization technology, which allows customers to manage physical and virtual workloads without underlay-overlay network operations

Oracle customers can order from Pluribus the platforms with the Oracle Solaris OS.
