Wind Telecomunicazioni in Italia Opts for Ctera
To launch cloud storage services for businesses
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 5, 2014 at 2:59 pmWind Telecomunicazioni S.p.A. has launched a new cloud storage service for businesses based on CTERA’s cloud storage platform, providing cloud storage provisioning, workstation backup management and secure file sync & share including team projects and multi-folder synchronization.
The service is provisioned from Wind’s Italian-based datacenters with no need to deploy additional infrastructure.
Named Wind Storage per Aziende (Wind Storage for Enterprise), the new service is directed at the Italian large enterprise market. It allows users to store and safeguard data in the cloud, as well as securely access and share it via a mobile app across devices (smartphones, tablets and PCs,) all managed through a centralized management portal.
Wind Storage per Aziende is a SaaS-based offering, utilizing Wind’s cloud storage infrastructure and allowing business customers have their own private-hosted environment with complete separation of data, security and access privileges. Wind gives potential business customers the possibility to test the service and upon purchasing a corporate business SIM also provides special bundles.
“We believe that cloud computing is an exciting opportunity and are therefore placing major investments in cloud technology and infrastructure,” said Pierpaulo Festino, director large enterprise business unit, Wind. “It is a fact by now, and not a passing trend, and a great opportunity to improve the competitiveness and innovation capacity of companies in our country. ‘Wind Storage per Aziende’ provides immediate benefits such as improved ability to access data and applications, as well as an acceleration of IT innovation and improved collaboration between staff.“
Localized cloud storage services are emerging as a significant opportunity over the world, and are essential for Italian companies that place particular emphasis on regulatory compliance and security.
Reservations arising from the use of public cloud services have been exacerbated by the revelation of PRISM, the NSA’s monitoring and data mining program, which has accelerated the development of domestic clouds within Italian borders. The CTERA’s services offered by Wind are implemented and managed in its Italian data centers, keeping all customer data within Italian borders as required by law for certain types of business data.
“CTERA is proud to take part in the emerging Italian cloud services market and is committed to its success,” said Donato Antonangeli, regional director, Italy, CTERA. “We are excited to be working with Wind on developing the highest quality cloud storage services for businesses of all sizes, leveraging our extensive experience in the cloud service provider market and our unique platform for cloud storage enablement.“
The solution will be available to enterprises via Wind’s direct sales force.
